12/11/07 - Research Firm Predicts GPS Market will Reach $30 Billion by 2008

December 11, 2007

A research report from telecomsmarketresearch.com forecasts that the GPS market will reach up to $30 billion by the end of 2008, thanks to the affordable GPS receivers and components which are now flooding the global GPS market.

Detailed review of recent market trends, developments and capabilities of Global Positioning Systems (GPS) are available in the report “World Global Positioning Systems Market Forecast 2006-2008.” The report also covers implications of technical policies, timely deployment, activities applied and adopted by U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), and the efforts undertaken by world governments.

According to the report there will be about 9% growth in the number of people using devices with GPS technology by the end of 2008. The use of digital signaling and media broadcasts has increased the demand for network applications which are fitted with GPS tools. This has made the GPS devices cheaper and more reliable.

Report suggests that a key opportunity lies in the field of RFID, however, the cost of deployment will be a major deciding factor.
